A brief history of mixed media
Mixed media, an artform that combines two or more mediums in one work began in the 20th century. Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque were searching for substitute for what they saw as hidebound academicism. They started to include things like pasted paper, oil cloth or rope in their works. Artists such as Jean Dubuffet, Joseph Cornell and Henri Matisse adopted this technic. Mixed media encourages to see tools and objects in a new light. Also many materials mean endless techniques.
