Adrian Dica
Adrian Dica was born in 1984 (Alexandria, Romania) and studied Fine Arts at The National University of Arts in Bucharest, where he now lives and works. In 2014 he obtained a BA in painting and was awarded with an Excellence Diploma for his BA artworks by The National Universiy of Fine Arts in Bucharest. In 2016 he completed his MA studies at the same university with a series entitled ”Urban Puzzle. Preapocaliptic”.Adrian Dica is the co-founder of GROUND NGO.
In 2017 he was awarded with a Prize for Painting by The National Union of Visual Artists in Romania and was a finalist at Teodor Moraru National Award. Since 2017 he also became active as a visual art education specialist at I.N.C.F.C. (National Institute for Cultural Research and Training). In 2018, the artist represented Romania at Huntenkunst ”Focus on Romania – Central Pavilion”, and in the same year he exhibited at WIPO Geneva. In 2019 he had the solo show ”Undeniable Illusion” at Arthalle Gallery (Bucharest) and participated in a group show entitled ”Distant Closeness, Intimate Expanse” at FIVE PLUS ART GALLERY (Vienna).
Conceptually, he focuses on the element of garbage (also in the form of abandoned objects) and its many implications in society, representing it both physically and metaphorically. ⒸAD
