Constantin Pacea

Constantin Pacea was born in 1957 in Bucharest and is the son of famous painter Ion Pacea and artist Lucreția Hagi. He lives and works in Paris, Bucharest and Altea (Spain). Ion Pacea inspired his son to become an artist and, while growing up, Constantin painted in his father’s studio reproductions after paintings created by European masters such as Degas or Vermeer, but also made copies of Egyptian and Greek sculptures. This preoccupation will follow him all his life. He graduated the Monumental Art Section of the ”Nicolae Grigorescu” Fine Art Institute, Bucharest in 1981, during the Communist regime. After being invited to exhibit his works in Germany, he left Romania in 1983, lived in Germany and Sweden, but in 1985 he established his studio in Paris.

Pacea never specifically plans his artworks, he allows his intuition to be a big part of the creative process, where the impredictable, the hazard and uncertainty play a central role. In his oil paintings and drawings, the artist approaches both figurative and abstract art in portraiture, landscapes and also concepts such as dreams, solitude and meditation. ⒸAD
