Ana Maria Negara
She was born in 1984 in Brăila, Romania. In 2008 she graduated The ”George Enescu” University of Arts, Iași, Romania, The Faculty of Visual Arts and Design (Department of Sculpture). In 2010 she received her MA in Visual Arts, specialization Sculpture. She also has a Phd in Visual Arts (Sculpture) at the same university. In 2012 Ana Maria Negară became the artistic director of the International Symposium ”Gorj Fest” in Târgu Jiu, Romania and between 2009 and 2013 she was the organizer of the International Art Symposium ”Retezat” (for the sculpture department). The artists participated in many national and international exhibitions and won a Debut Award in 2008 and then a Jury Award in 2010 offered by The Romanian Union of Visual Artists, Iași Branch.
Conceptually, the artist investigates natural geometry through sculptures inspired by the calcareous structures of sea shells or ocean snails turning them into poetic metaphors. Although made of marble, they suggest weightlessness and delicacy. ⒸAD
