Szabolcs Belenyi (b.1988), Istvan Betuker (b. 1984), Szilard Gaspar (b.1991), Dan Maciuca (b.1979) and Ioan Popdan (b. 1974) are five strong and emerging international artists descending from the Cluj School of Art, Romania; all five artists equally master their mediums, ranging from classical techniques of drawing (Szabolcs Belenyi) and painting (Istvan Betuker, Dan Maciuca and Ioan Popdan), to sculpture and performance (Szilard Gaspar).

On the conceptual level, they all show much interest in overlapping existential inquiries with societal issues, while comprising all addressed problematic in the framework of recent history and art history bench marks. The novelty element in all of these five artistic approaches consists in their new attitude towards the Eastern European cultural legacy, echoing in each artist`s practice as a re-discovery of existentialism and its connected themes.
