Interesting facts about the color blue
Historically, blue was one of the most expensive pigments and was used only for important subjects. It was made from Lapis lazuli, semi-precious stone found in Northern Afghanistan.
Until the 19th century it was reserved for the rich upper class. In 1984 German professor Christian Gmelin invented a synthetic blue named French Ultramarine. The Impressionist movement alternated warm and cool color to create a sensation of light on the canvas. Today the color is widely adored in art, interior design and Fashion. ©AlexandraD.
