About

“Our passion for Eastern European art is what ignited our journey. We present artists that are true in their work. Their artworks are about our relationship with one another, with nature and  examine what it means to be human. The FIVE PLUS ART GALLERY was established in 2013 in Vienna, Austria in the surrounding of Belvedere Palace, Naschmarkt and famous Karlskirche. We focus on artists from Austria and Romania, each with an unmistakable signature. We have received numerous awards for our support of Romanian artists at home and abroad. In 2021 we were awarded the Order of Cultural Merit in the rank of Commander by the Presidency of Romania. As far as I know we are the only people in Austria who were born in Romania under the communistic regime and show Romanian contemporary art as a gallery in Austria. The diversity and substantiality of the positions are mainly represented in the traditional media: painting, graphic and sculpture. If you want to know more about our artists or Romanian art in general feel  free to contact me:+43 660 299 8164, alexandra.david@fiveplusartgallery.eu.” Alexandra David

Since October, 2024 the gallery is operating from its location in the 4th district, Vienna. You can view our artworks live in our gallery in Wiedner Haupstrasse 40, 1040 Vienna or  24/7 in our online-shop. We are also offering viewings on request outside our normal opening hours. Adelina-Erica Abrudean is a visual artist based in Cluj-Napoca who prefers to go by Adee. Graduated the graphic department at the University of Arts and Design Cluj-Napoca, where she discovered her passion for traditional art, comic book and graphic design.

Her exhibition Metamorphoses captures various facets of femininity while aiming to highlight the changes and transformations a woman undergoes throughout her becoming. Each work illustrates Adelinas perspective as a young woman and an emerging artist. As a feminist, she believes in the strength and intelligence of woman. In their ability to adapt to diverse social and personal context.

For Adelina Abrudean the wasp is a symbol of communication, development, order, and progress. This insect inspired her, after a phase of self-searching, to work with creative purpose, doing her best making her dreams into reality. From her perspective woman are often associated with the bee; a symbol of diligence. Scientifically proven the wasp has a more complex social behaviour than we are normally given her credit for. What we can learn from her is how much we can achieve, if we signify our relationships with those around us. To deepen with patience our relationships with those around us.

The praying mantis is for Adelina a highly controversial and mysterious insect. Although it appears fragile, it is an agile and efficient predator. It is characterized by patience, introspection, and the wisdom with which it acts upon its prey. As woman are also sometimes associated with these virtues.

She associates woman with the wasp and praying mantis, because in various cultures both symbolize qualities of woman that she deeply believes in and with which she identifies. Both insects represent transformation and renewal, strength and discipline – qualities of woman in which she believes and recognizes in herself.
